The name for rosemary is derived from its Latin name : ros marinus - Dew of the sea. It tends to grow outside of its normal flowering season and I found it blooming on my frost covered roof terrace today. #herb #plantsofinstagram #frost #flower #winter #winterishere
Winter is a tough season to weather. But now that January is almost over I can see small signs of hope. Here is the Snowdrift plant (Clematis Armandii)- a vine that caught my eye with its beautiful white flowers when I was walking home yesterday. #winter #wintertime #flowers #snowdrift #january #wintersun
To counteract the busy period just before Christmas (so much eating and celebrating to do) I’ve been working on this detailed illustration. It’s a reminder of my 2018 motto: No time to rush. Hope you find time to slow down over the next few weeks and enjoy the small moments. #fern #winter #forest #christmas #season #salamander #snails #caterpillar #newbeginnings #wintersolstice
Happy Advent! I made a #wreath as part of a #craft club I am in. @laurengentry.draws bought and picked all the wonderful ingredients: Nobilis, #spruce, #Holly and Lodgepole #pine foliage, Austracia cones, dried orange slices, #eucalyptus and cinnamon sticks. Thanks again for hosting Lauren! #wreath #advent #christmasdecor #crafts
I spent a few days on #Mallorca and brought this branch of evergreen #oak back. Encina is the Spanish national tree which is mainly cultivated for its nutritious fruit -the well-known #acorns. Much of Mallorca is made up of limestone and I found the many gorges and cave systems mysterious and inspiring. #travel #travelphotography #shetravels #travelillustration #livewylder
I finally made the time to go on a trip to #Kew gardens and explore what #autumn has been up to. I collected all types of #leaves but focused on the bright red and delicate leaves of #Japanese maple (also known as #Acer). #trees #autumnleaves #autumn🍁 #fall #nature
When I am not in the studio working on my illustrations I love to create live painted visuals which I capture on a light box and project onto the big screen. Here is a little taster of what went down in Lisbon last week with the wonderful @questensemble and @raphaelknapp . I use #ink, tissues and even cling film to create these Rorschach worlds.

Here are a few found objects from my #travels. The second #drawing was made at Ravenspoint on the isle of Lewis . There was something uncanny about the place. I arrived after a very long day of cycling and even though it was right by a beautiful loch I felt uneasy. I planned to leave at the crack of dawn but was trapped by heavy rain and wind. It’s hard to say what it was - maybe it was simply being all alone and tired or the raven that kept swooping across the loch. I met a few other travelers along the way who felt the same way about this place.
In hindsight I like to entertain the thought that Ravenspoint is haunted! #spooky #isleoflewis #scotland #travel #travelblogger #raven #👻 #highlandcow #seaside
Here are some more impressions of my recent trip. Loved these beautiful bright wild flowers called the Bog Asphodel which bring a dash of colour to the bleak moors of the #outerhebrides. Also had freshly caught mouth watering #scallops at the @uig_scallop_shack. #uig #bikelife #berneray #wildflower #landscape #naturephotography #travelblogger
Of course I completely geeked out over the beautiful #plant life in the Hebrides when I wasn’t cycling. Especially on the Uists you find sea meadows known as #machair which are transformed in #summer with up to 45 species of wild flowers. The huge northern part of Lewis is one of the largest undisturbed expanses of moors and bogs in Britain and I loved the different types of #moss and #lichen. #wildflower #scotland #outerhebrides #naturephotography #flower
